Introduction to Research Data Management : a training course Open Access

In this workshop, you will get an overview of Research Data Management and will learn about some of the tools you can use to manage your research data. Session Description: If you’ve ever lost some of your research data, this course is for you. The aim of this course is to teach you best practices in Research Data Management. You will learn about the do’s and don’ts of managing research data. We will talk briefly about some of the ethical and legal considerations of managing research data. We will discuss the options available to you for storing research data during your project and after your project. Did you know that by sharing your research data at the end of your research, you’re likely to increase your citation rate? Finally, you will learn that there are various open scholarship tools for managing research data. Learning Outcomes: After attending this session, you will be able to: (1) Understand core Research Data Management activities and best practices (2) Describe different types of research data (3) Apply Research Data Management concepts and terminology to your research practice (4) Identify options provided to you by CIS for short-term storage of research data (5) Organise, clean and process research data (6) Effectively plan for the Long-term storage of research data (7) Access and use Open Scholarship research data management tools. Who this workshop is for: This session is open to all PGR students and staff.
