For Fig.1:
This figure is just an image. We have included the image in .eps format. 

For Fig. 2:
The CAD files for the sample holder and the grippers are included (in .ipt format). The parts assembly used to perform the simulations is included as a .iam file titled 'Finite Element Analysis Results- Figure 2'.
The .ipt part files can be opened using most commercial CAD software (Autocad, Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor etc.) but the .iam simulation file must be opened using Autodesk Inventor software. Unfortunately,
the Autodesk Inventor software used to perform the strain simulations does not include a feature to export simulation results as raw data, so all data must be read by opening the .iam simulation file.
Also included is a PDF file (.pdf) that contains a guide on how the finite element simulations were performed and an .eps image of Fig. 2.

For Fig.'s 3-7 inclusive:
Five .csv files are included. The title of each CSV file gives the figure the data is for.
